Hello and happy new year to you all from us here at Loram Racing. Now, lets get into this as we’ve got lots to bring you up to date with!
Firstly lets take care of the final meeting from 2018 where Lewis Smith secured the 2018 championship in front of Steve Burrows and Ray Harris at Brands Hatch in November. There was some fantastic racing from the near capacity grid, including a storming win and return to form for Chris Brockhurst who will be a force to be reckoned with in 2019. Our day meanwhile was rather more frustrating as the 262 Tigra began to fill with smoke half way through race one, prompting an early retirement. Although the team gave the car a thorough looking over before race 2, the problem remained so it was a double DNF to end our season. Once back in the garage the cause of the problem was traced back to a broken synchro in the gearbox which our friends at the Exeter Gearbox Centre have been kind enough to rectify for us. Thankyou!
With that problem taken care of, the car has also received a careful look over and some maintenance, as well as a resprayed front end and the addition of a couple of bracing bars in the chassis to bring it in line with regulations for next season. Ah, next season, lets get onto that subject! After the disaster of 2018 where our championship was run by the now disbanded BARC South East Centre, we are pleased to say that we will be continuing with the BARC themselves in the ‘Super Silhouettes’ being run by SHP, who are responsible for the long running Pickup Truck Championship. As we write in January 2019 we already have 28 registered drivers and everyone is incredibly excited about the season ahead. The 2019 fixtures are as follows:
Round 1 & 2 – Brands Hatch – 21st/22nd April
Rounds 3, 4 & 5 – Pembrey – 11th/12th May
