May Mendips success

May bank holiday weekend and the second outing at Mendips Raceway this season for Brian. Ross not racing this meeting as he prepares his car to enter the Intermarque circuit racing championship, expect a further update on this exciting news soon! Brians Tigra meanwhile has undergone some changes since the last meeting with a new rear axle being fitted and the team were keen to see how much difference had been made. Practice however wasn’t going to be the time to find this out as the half wet / half dry track provided the drivers with an interesting challenge!

By the time the meeting got underway the track was fully dry however and Brians Tigra made some good progress to come home in 4th place, just losing out on 3rd place on the penultimate lap after getting caught in the traffic and passed by #904 Wilson Hamilton.

The reverse grid of race 2 saw Brian start from 3rd place and then move upto second after passing #88 Alan Shelper into the bottom corner. The #262 Tigra slowly edged clear of the pursing #83 whilst hanging on close to #904. As the race entered the final few laps Brian looked like he had #904 boxed in behind some backmarkers but couldn’t quite make it stick round the outside and had to settle for 2nd place.

Onto the finals and somehow the track was still dry despite a near black sky. Brian was quickly on the move from the start, moving around the outside of #205 Mike Norton before switching to the inside to pass the ever improving #55 Alistair Lowe and the wayward Shelper for the lead. With a clear track in front it was plain sailing from there on with #262 coming home to take the win half a lap clear of Shelper and Beaven, a result which propels Brian to the top of this years very closely fought track championship.

The next outing is May 31st, here’s hoping for some more good results then!
